18th Century Powder Horn

18th Century Powder Horn

Availability: In Stock

Pleasing 18th century longhunter’s or militiaman’s Powder Horn. The Powder Horn is 15″ around the curve and 3″ across the butt plug. It has an 18th century brass pull for strap attachment and a most unusual lob use to attach an the leather for an original powder measure (never seen this before). The original powder measure is hand carved from reed that is found along the rivers in Virginia. There is nice cross hatch engraving on the neatly carved spout which has its original carved wooden plug. The color is fabulous.  Collected many years ago in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The horn shows the wonderful talent found on the frontier of Virginia in the 18th century…
