Flintlock Holster Pistol ca 1710-1720

Beautiful relief carved flintlock holster pistol made in the first quarter of the 18th century. This is an early flintlock pistol probably made in France for the world trade. It has its original banana shaped lock that is very desirable. It was the type of pistol treasured throughout the world. The hardware is cast brass and is engraved. The cock is the early handsome “S” style. There are no visible proof marks on the barrel or marks on the handmade lock. The wood appears to be hard maple.  This flintlock was probably made in Europe for the American trade however it is certainly possible it was stocked in American using European parts and some handmade American parts. Early 18th century pistols in their original condition are very hard to find.  The carving on the tang, around the trigger grard and on the fore stock is outstanding and in beautiful condition.  Early 18th century flintlock pistols of this type are highly collectible. 10″ overall   19 1/4″ overall –   11″ barrel
