Flintlock Holster Pistol ca 1740-1750

Beautiful relief carved flintlock holster pistol made in the second quarter of the 18th century. This early flintlock was the type treasured by soldiers in America during the F and I War and the Rev War. The hardware is cast brass and is engraved. It is original flint and the cock is the early handsome “S” stye. There are no proof marks on the barrel or marks on the handmade lock. The wood appears to be hard maple.  This flintlock was probably made in Europe for the American trade however it is certainly possible it was stocked in American using European parts and some handmade American parts. Early 18th century pistols in their original condition are very hard to find.  Beautiful F and I War / Rev War period flintlock. 10″ overall   12 1/2″ barrel
