Pole Arm Pike from Jamestown, Virginia

Blacksmith made colonial pole arm pike from the Jamestown region. This artifact came from the Harold Peterson Collection to Larry Bowly. I purchased it from Larry Bowly many years ago. The pike is 14” long with cuff to receive what would have been a 5’ to 6’ wooden shaft. It is forged of heavy iron with the blade being 5/8” X 7/8” near the shaft cuff. The cuff has a hole at the top to allow for fasting of the staff to cuff.  The cuff is forged open on the bottom to allow for easy fitting of the shaft. Wonderful early “primitive” colonial pike from the settlement where the first English settlement began in America.
