On Thursday, June 18, 1812, United States President James Madison singed a PROCLAMATION OF WAR against Great Britain. Just two days later ‘THE WEEKLY REGISTER” a Baltimore, Maryland Newspaper published the first article announcing that PROCLAMATION OF WAR OF 1812. (Note: Wikipedia, reports that this news source: “…(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States in it time…Devoted primarily to politics…considered an important source for the history of the period.”
This offering is an original, historic, & collectible newspaper titled: THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, June 20, 1812
An inside page has a lengthy: “Declaration of War” which takes over 1 1/2 columns and is signed in type by the President: James Madison. This is followed by related reporting from the “Committee on foreign relations…” which takes over 2 pages. And on the back page is the formal Act of Congress declaring war against Great Britain, headed: “AN ACT Declaring War between the United Kingdom of Great Britain…and the United States of America & their territories”, signed in type by the President: James Madison.
Great to have this historic reporting in a newspaper published so close to Washington, D.C., and in a city which would figure prominently in the War of 1812.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, light toning, nice condition.
100% original collector quality newspaper that is uncleaned and unaltered. Comes from a War of 1812 collection in Albemarle County, VA

The grouping when together was a wonderful War of 1812 collection. I would love to see the grouping stay together. While for sale individually, should you be interested in the group there would be a very special group price.
