Rev War Cartridge Box Badge

Revolutionary War British Cartridge Box or Strap Badge excavated at Site of the Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina. The badge bears the initials ‘JL’ engraved on the badge. Search of a list of British soldiers at the Battle of Cowpens provided only John (Joseph) Lynch that match the letters ‘JL’. John was captured at by General Morgan’s Virginia Militia at the Battle of Cowpens and transported as a prisoner from Cowpens, South Carolina to Richmond, Virginia by Abendigo Hodge, a soldier from General Morgan’s Virginia Militia.

Fine example of a Revolutionary War British artifact that can be identified to soldier.

Size 2” wide – 2 ¼” Tall

From the collection of Dr. Francis Amos, Rocky Mount, Virginia (deceased).  The research was provided on a hand written note by Dr. Amos (see photos of note in the picture file).
