18th Century Native American Spike Tomahawk

This rare Native American spike tomahawk with forged blade and carved haft descended through the Parson Family, from Parson, West Virginia. Dale Parson related that Capt. James Parson was captured by the Native Americans while surveying in western Virginia (what is today Randolph County, WV) and was kept in captivity in Ohio. When James escaped from a Native American village in Ohio, he carried this forged tomahawk with him back to Virginia where he built a fort at what became known, today, as Parson, West Virginia.                       Blade: 1” x 5 ¼” – 16 ½”” overall
