Revolutionary War Musket

Musket made by John Parr, Liverpool, England and carried by Captain George McCormick, Revolutionary War officer from Frederick County, Virginia. In July, 1777, George McCormack was a captain in the 13th Virginia regiment under the command of Colonel William Crawford of General Muhlenburgh’s Brigade in General Green’s Division, in the northern campaign. In 1778, I resigned from the 13th Regiment and served with Federick County Militia in defense of western Frederick County and west to Fort Pitt. John Parr, Liverpool, England, was engaged in making and selling firearms to the Virginia Committee of Safety and shipping them to the neutral Dutch port of St. Eustatius in the Caribbean Islands to be smuggled via Virginia ships to the Virginia’s Committee of Safety during the Revolutionary War.
