Revolutionary War Powder Horn

An interesting engraved powder horn date 1779 and features the name ‘Henry Isch’ and a fort along the river that suggest Fort Laurens, Ohio Territory on the Ohio River with ‘Indian War’ engraved above fort scene. Collectors often encounter the name “ISCH” on artifacts along with a first name. In the 18th century Hessian solders feared for their safety and used the term “ISCH” in place of their name. Translated as a suffix the word “ISCH” means ‘Not Exactly’.
