Revolutionary War Signal Cannon
Revolutionary War Signal Cannon
18th century cast brass signal cannon found in the basement of the Barnes House, 118 Washington Street, Falmouth, Virginia, by a worker in 1991 that was proving clean-up to this 18th century Barnes home prior to being offered for sale. This wonderful cast Signal Cannon has a faint “H” branded on the reinforced ring that supports the trunnion. The “H” is believed to be the brand found on 18th century artifacts made at the Hunter Ironworks, Falmouth, VA Given that the Hunter Ironworks is less than one mile from the Barnes House certain suggest that this very special signal cannon could have been cast at the Hunter Ironworks.
