BREASTPLATE, CIRCA 1650
Elegant English Breastplate made of forged iron constructed in one piece with a strong vertical medial ridge, bold outward angular turns at the neck, and arm openings.
The elegance, workmanship, and symbolism of power and chivalry, breastplates are readily accepted by most as works of art. The breastplate is ranked second only to the helmet by collectors. Like a fine statue, breastplates display well on shelves, tables, desks, and on the wall, like a fine painting.
No doubt used in American as it was found in Duxbury, New England, which was a part of the Plymouth Colony.
