Bronze Medallion – Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Rare Bronze Medallion found in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. In 1966, while on a fish trip on Buckhorn Lake north of Peterborough, Ontario, I purchased, from my fishing guide, Steve Taylor (an Ojibwa Native American) this beautiful Bronze Medallion with an engraved swastika. According to Steve this medallion descended though his family and was given to his ancestor thousands of years ago by a visitor from across the great ocean. I was intrigued by the medallion but could not help but wonder how a bronze age medallion could be owned by a Native American, living on a Native American reservation, on Long Lake, Ontario. I visualized a trader receiving many furs from a Native American after speaking of the engraved ‘swastika’ being a symbol of the ‘Great Spirit’. Later that week while at diner, in Peterborough, I learned of a local exhibit with petroglyphs used in Bronze Age Scandinavia. Several scholars translate some of these images, located in a stone park in Peterborough, as being scripted by Bronze Age Nordic king, Woden-lithi including an image of his engraved ship as “Gungnir” (c.1700 BC). The Nordic King came to America and traded with the Algonquin (Ojibwa) Native Americans. The presents of this Bronze Medallion further validates the published studies of Professors Barry Fell (Harvard University), Archeologist Brian Kelly (Harvard University), and Professor Robert Schoch (Boston University) all of whom have studied the stone engraving found in Peterborough, Ontario. Nordic traders were among the first Europeans to visit American and the Native American villages. This is perhaps on of the rarest American artifacts ever located.  ¾” x 1¾”
