Revolutionary Powder Horn

Inscribed (1777 JF) Revolutionary War powder horn that belonged to Captain James Franklin, Amherst County Militia, Amherst County, Virginia. Franklin’s Amherst County Militia  entered the Revolutionary War service at Great Bridge in 1775 under General Woodford and then served under General George Washington in the Northern Campaign. He served under General Greene in the Southern Campaign and was discharged after the Battle of Yorktown in October, 1781.
