Revolutionary War American made wooden stave wagon canteen was carried by Henry Shackelford, Gloucester County, Virginia. Henry was a wagon master in the Revolutionary War, under Captain Thomas Nelson of the 1st Virginia Regiment of the Continental line during the Revolutionary War. He served throughout the war until the ended at the Siege of Yorktown. These Revolutionary War canteens were ordered by the Virginia’s Committee of Safety during the Revolutionary War
