Revolutionary War Militiaman’s Powder Horn – Phillip Hartman
Hartman Powder Horn
This wonderful Revolutionary War Powder Horn engraved with “PH’ on the plug was carried by Phillip Hartman, Militiaman Rockingham County, VA. He joined the war in 1776 and served with Col Joshua Hester under Gen. Washington during the Northern Campaign. He was discharged in 1780. He re-enlisted in early year 1781 under Capt. John Fesick and was attached to the French troops under Marquis Lafayette. He marched on to Williamsburg, VA. and thence to Yorktown VA for the Siege of Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis and the British forces under his command. He returned to Williamsburg and was discharged.
