Jefferson Peace Medal and Sash ca 1997

Jefferson Peace Medal and Sash made for the Ken Burns’ 1997, exquisitely made, documentary “Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery” which documented on film the two years journey of Lewis and Clark! Writer Dayton Duncan oversaw the  collection of props for the documentary that was funded by The Pew Charitable Trust. During “Lewis and Clark Journey”, in the early 19th century , Jefferson peace medals, often on a sash, were given to the Native American Chiefs and Elders as peace symbols.

A beautiful collectible that was a part of a fabulous documentary.
